BSV Mission & Values

Guided by Compassion and Heritage

At Beth Sholom Village, our mission is rooted in a deep commitment to compassionate care and the rich wisdom of our Jewish heritage. As a Jewish grant-making organization, we work to strengthen our community by promoting the health, well-being, and dignity of older adults. We fulfill this mission by investing in impactful programs, partnering with community organizations, and supporting innovations that directly serve and benefit seniors with a priority to those serving the Jewish community.

Grounded in Jewish Values

Our work is inspired by the core Jewish values of tzedakah (charity), community responsibility, and loving-kindness. These principles guide us as we provide grants that expand access to culturally sensitive, person-centered care. We prioritize organizations that enrich the lives of seniors—especially within the Jewish community—while honoring the experiences of our elders, preserving cherished traditions, and fostering environments where every individual is valued, respected, and fully included.

Creating a Lasting Legacy

Through thoughtful and purposeful philanthropy, Beth Sholom Village is building a legacy of care, compassion, and continuity. Our efforts strengthen the bonds between generations and help sustain a vibrant Jewish community, ensuring that the values and traditions we hold dear continue to thrive for generations to come.

Beth Sholom Village's Grant Application

Beth Sholom Village recognizes that the needs of those we serve are evolving. To remain true to our mission, we are adapting as well. Throughout our history, we have consistently sought innovative ways to support seniors, and our commitment to providing high-quality services to all seniors in need across Hampton Roads has never wavered. In 2023, Beth Sholom Village transitioned by selling its skilled care and assisted living facilities in Virginia Beach. Despite this change, we remain fully committed to our mission of providing quality care for the elderly. Beth Sholom Village continues to operate as a non-profit organization and remains a strong presence within both the Tidewater Jewish community and the broader senior healthcare community.
